I work with children, teens, and adults who are navigating trauma, struggling with symptoms, and having difficulty connecting to themselves and their family. I also specialize in infertility and pre/postnatal mental health.
Each unique and sensitive issue brought to session is an extension of your life experiences and closest relationships. Overtime, patterns develop that significantly influence your well-being, following you even into adulthood, marriage, and parenting! Through deep self-awareness you can develop new ways of being that foster meaningful change, and every step of the way I am your invested confidant.
I also offer children and teens a developmentally natural way to express and explore their inner worlds. With use of creative therapy approaches such as play, art, and sand tray, new and meaningful channels of emotional connection are revealed in ways that traditional talk therapy may not reach. More imaginative exploration is often needed to allow for better processing of complex emotions, developing healthy coping skills, and shifting challenging behaviors.
Another near-to-my-heart focus is working with women who are experiencing infertility or infertility treatment, pregnancy, and motherhood.
"Toys are children's words and play is their language."
— Garry L. Landreth
Childhood is full of wonder, curiosity, and growth—but it can also come with big emotions and challenges that are hard for both kids and parents to navigate. I use art, sandtray, and play based techniques to connect with children in ways that feel natural to them, helping them to better understand their internal worlds, work through unique issues, change troublesome behaviors, and heal from traumatic experiences.
"In the social jungle of human existence, there is no feeling of being alive without a sense of identity."
- Erik Erikson
Adolescence is a time of change and often challenge. Maybe the weight of growing into your own identity has led to anxiety, sadness, or difficulties in school, with family, or in your friendships. As a teen you deserve a supportive space where you can express yourself openly and work through life’s pressures in healthy, positive ways. I offer creative ways to make therapy fun, connective, and engaging.
"Being the “best you can be” is really only possible when you are deeply connected to another. Splendid isolation is for planets, not people."
- Sue Johnson
Family is the foundation of connection. Whether you're navigating parenting challenges, trying to improve family dynamics, or working through conflicts that seem to have no resolution, parenting focused therapy offers a constructive space to create greater understanding, harmony, and connection for you and with your children.
A special focus of mine is supporting women who are navigating infertility, fertility treatments, family planning, or are already pregnant or postpartum. I have a professional background working closely with women in Obstetrics and Reproductive Endocrinology and am also specialty trained in Maternal Mental Health. From these experiences I gained deep understanding of the intricate care designed around helping women achieve family and what complications can arise along the way physically, mentally, and emotionally. I know that overcoming obstacles to motherhood is a deeply personal time unique to each and every woman, that deserves utmost compassion, understanding, and nurturement.
I am a graduate of Lewis and Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling. My master's degree is in Professional Mental Health Counseling. I have learned in my personal and professional life that counseling truly can be a profound and beautiful way to find healing and build a positive life. But finding the right counselor match is important!
Before becoming a counselor I worked in the medical field directly supporting women in obstetrics, perinatology, and infertility.
My focus following graduate school surrounded eating disorder and self-esteem work with youth and adults. I started out working in a higher level eating disorder center for youth before branching out to generalist work with adults in my local county mental health center.
I consider my ultimate specialty and focus in my work to be helping others build the safest, healthiest foundation possible. I believe everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, and loved, and that this is integral to a successful life.
I am in continuous professional training, consultation, and specialty supervision, to insure that I am always learning more!
I spend a lot of time with my family, animals (indoor and outdoor!), and in my garden. I am happiest when I'm on a backroad drive or have a weekend of hard work outside with my loved ones.
Each session is 50 minutes and costs $145-180
